IDeA Foundation announces fundraising for Syrian Armenians

The "Initiative of Development for Armenia" (IDeA) Foundation has allocated 250,000 US dollars to Armenians in Syria and began raising funds for help programmes both to those who stay in Syria, and to those, who want to leave the country or have already done so.

The Armenian Diaspora in Syria is in a difficult situation after the start of the armed conflict there. The members of the Diaspora, living in Aleppo, are in the area of regular bombings. The Charitable Organization named "Aleppo" has appealed to philanthropists of Armenia and Diaspora for help in removing from Syria the Armenians, wishing to leave the country. As a result of shelling Aleppo, only within one week seven Armenians perished there; and dozens were wounded, residents of the Syrian city told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on October 9.

Today, the IDeA Foundation made a statement about the allocation of 250,000 US dollars to Armenians of Syria and fundraising in favour of Syrian Armenians.

"The funds will be used for planning and implementing the following campaigns: help to those who still stay in Syria (AGBU); help to those who seek temporary shelter outside Syria (Mission Armenia); help to those who decided to come to Armenia (Aleppo); and help in integration and employment in Armenia (RepatArmenia)." says the message posted on the IDeA website.
