In Quarter 2 of 2016, 14 people fell victim to armed conflict in Chechnya

In April-June 2016, in Chechnya, at least 14 people fell victim to the armed conflict underway in Northern Caucasus; three of them were killed and 11 wounded. These are the findings of the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

According to law enforcement bodies, among those killed in Chechnya there was one power agent and two persons involved in the activities of illegal armed formations (IAFs); among those wounded in the armed conflict there were 7 law enforcers, 2 alleged militants and 2 civilians.

In Quarter 1 of 2016, one person (civilian) fell victim to the armed conflict in Chechnya.

The above statistics cannot reflect with absolute accuracy the real number of victims. Not all the data gets into news reports. It is not always possible to verify the truthfulness of law enforcers' statements; and sometimes new data about the events of the reporting period become known after the publication of statistics by the "Caucasian Knot".

In 2015, Chechnya had 30 victims of the armed conflict still ongoing in Northern Caucasus; 14 of them were killed and 16 were wounded. In 2014, there were at least 117 victims: 52 were killed and 65 were wounded. In 2013, at least 101 people suffered in the course of the armed conflict in Chechnya: 39 of them were killed and 62 were wounded.
