In Dagestan, men suspected of shelling director of House of Culture testify under pressure, their defender asserts

The men detained on suspicion of shelling the director of the House of Culture of the village of Karabudakhkent on June 14 have denied their involvement in the incident; however, then they came under pressure from law enforcers and signed protocols with confessions. This was reported by advocate Sapiyat Magomedova.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the media have reported that two body guards of Makhmud Amiraliev, the head of the Karabudakhkent District, were detained on suspicion of involvement in the shelling. The press service of the head of the Karabudakhkent District has denied these data.

Advocate Sapiyat Magomedova has reported that the detainees "were tortured with electric current and hosed with water."

According to the edition "Chernovik" (Draft), the incident with Bakhriev may be associated with the incident of March 25, 2011, when Djabrail, a cousin of Arslanali Bakhriev, was killed in a conflict among local residents. One of the detainees had an earlier criminal record and was a cellmate of the man sentenced for killing Djabrail Bakhriev.

Sapiyat Magomedova has appealed to prosecutor Ramazan Shakhnavazov with a request to conduct an unbiased investigation into the criminal case. The advocate has also added that she had repeatedly tried to make an appointment to public prosecutor, but she was refused a meeting.
