Circassians ask Veniamin Kondratiev to help Syrian refugee continue her education

Ali Shartan, Chairman of the "Adyge Khase" for the Krasnodar Territory, has appealed to Veniamin Kondratiev, Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, with a request to help Ragad Gish, an ethnic Circassian, to continue her education in a university.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the intensification of the conflict in Syria, Syrian Circassians began returning to the regions of the Southern Federal District (SFD) and the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). In 2014, Kabardino-Balkaria issued 1000 permits for temporary residence of repatriates in the region. In 2015, Adygea accepted more than 800 ethnic Circassians from Syria. Refugees receive help from the republics' authorities and the Foundation for support of repatriates.

"In view of the extremely difficult situation in Syria, many of our compatriots are in a difficult social situation. Having a high educational base, some of them are not able to continue their education in Russia without government support. In particular, in 2014, our compatriot Ragad Basilievna Gish, an ethnic Adyg, arrived in Russia. Upon her arrival, she applied for the study at the preparatory department for foreign citizens of the Kuban State University. However, she has no opportunity to raise sufficient funds for tuition," states Ali Shartan in his appeal.
