On August 15-21, 2016, at least one person fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of August 15-21, 2016, one person was killed in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No wounded were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The victim was an alleged member of the armed underground in Dagestan.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On August 17, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced within the territory of the Buinaksk District and within a part of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, bounded by villages of Dorgeli and Kakashura. Residents of the Buinaksk and Karabudakhkent Districts have reported that they did not feel any restrictions because of the CTO legal regime. No information on restriction of movement and blocking of villages has been reported.

Bombings and terror acts

On August 20, a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 car was found near the road Pervomaisk-Sergokala in the Kayakent District of Dagestan. The off-roader was burned, and a burnt-out body was found inside the car. According to the law enforcement bodies, an improvised explosive device (IED) was transported inside the car and detonated during transportation.
