Pavel Manukyan goes on hunger strike

In Yerevan, Pavel Manukyan, a severely injured member of the group "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun), denies the charges filed against him.

The "Caucasian Knot" reported that at night of July 27, the press service of the Armenian police reported on a shootout between policemen and rebels who seized the building of the police regiment. According to the police, five persons were injured. Pavel Manukyan and his son Aram were hospitalized in serious but stable condition. On July 27, the court pronounced the decision to arrest Aram Manukyan.

At present, Pavel Manukyan still stay at in the resuscitation ward of the medical centre "Erebuni". He was charged under Article 219 (seizure of buildings, vehicles, means of communication) and Part 2 of Article 235 (illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosive substances or explosive devices).

The defendant has declared a hunger strike, the "Kommersant" reports with reference to advocate Inessa Petrosyan.
