Two police officers released from seized building in Yerevan

In Yerevan, members of the "Constituent Parliament" have set free two police officers after in the course of the negotiations the parties had reached an agreement on the admission of journalists to the building of the police regiment seized by oppositionists.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 17, in Yerevan, armed members of the opposition "Constituent Parliament" seized the building of the regiment of the patrol-and-security service of the police regiment. Yerevan hosts mass demonstrations of opposition supporters, demanding not to use force against the rebels who seized the building.

At night, under the mediation of Vitali Balasanyan, a Nagorno-Karabakh MP, Varuzhan Avetisyan, the deputy chairman of the "Constituent Parliament", has met Georgy Kutoyan, the chief of the National Security Service of Armenia. During the meeting, the parties have reached an agreement on the establishment of a press centre in the territory of the seized building, the "Panorama.am" reports.

After the agreement had been reached, the oppositionists set free two police officers, who were held hostage in the building. The oppositionists have promised to free two other police officers when the press centre is in fact established, the "Lragir.am" reports with reference to Varuzhan Avetisyan.

The establishment of the press centre means that in case of being invited by the oppositionists, all staff members of the media will have unhampered access to the building seized by the rebels. The meetings with journalists may be held at any time of day or night, stated Varuzhan Avetisyan as quoted by the "Verelq.am".
