In Dubovka, protestors reproach officials for their desire to save money on school children

Officials deprive teachers of their jobs and send school children to another educational institution, unfamiliar for them, in order to save two million roubles of the budget. This is stated by the local residents, who are seeking to save the school in the city of Dubovka of the Volgograd Region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, 40 people gathered for rally to demand the resignation of Alexander Lyashenko, the head of the Dubovka District, and to protest against the closure of the local school.

The City Duma has received a letter from parents of the school children with the demand to abandon the plans on optimization of the basic school of the Dubovka Teachers College. This was reported by Ivan Kazakov, a deputy of the City Duma.

According to him, 17 teachers and 13 other staff members of the school will lose their jobs. The officials "explain the plans to close the school by low birth rate and high cost for its maintenance."

"While mentioning the cause of the unpopular decision, the local authorities recognize that the school is to be closed to fulfil the order of the regional administration aimed at optimization of the budget spending," states the resolution.
