Rock festival in Tbilisi disrupted because of conflict with priests
The two-day rock music festival "Tbilisi JAM Fest 2016" was disrupted shortly after its start. Priests of the monastery located nearby came to the venue of the festival and demanded to stop the concert.
On June 4, the international rock festival began on the outskirts of Tbilisi, and it was to last for two days. Bands from Sweden, Israel, Ukraine, Armenia, and Azerbaijan were invited to take part in the rock music festival.
However, soon after the start of the concert, priests accompanied with a group of believers came to the venue of the festival and demanded to stop the concert. They motivated their demand by the facts that a cemetery was nearby and that the music reached the monastery, located about one kilometre from the venue of the concert, the "Georgia-Online" reports with reference to eyewitnesses.
The police arrived in place of the conflict and forced all the participants to leave the territory of the festival in order to avoid clashes.
