ANAMA: in April, over 741 hectares of Azerbaijani territory was demined
In April, in the course of demining, in the total area of 7,412,514 square meters, 1722 units of unexploded ordnance and landmines were detected and neutralized, said the National Agency for Demining Azerbaijani Territories (known as ANAMA).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of April 2, the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone was escalated. The parties to the conflict were engaged in combat actions with the use of tanks, multiple launch rocket systems, and aircrafts, which resulted in a large number of victims. On April 5, the sides to the conflict declared a truce; however, they periodically accuse each other of violation of agreements on ceasefire.
According to the ANAMA, in April, demining operations involved 402 sappers and 228 persons of support staff, six mechanical demining machines and 34 specially trained dogs.
No accidents in connection with the detection of mines and unexploded ordnance were recorded, the "APA" quoted the message of the ANAMA’s press service today.
According to the ANAMA, demining operations continue in the Absheron, Agdam, Agjabedi, Agstafa, Fuzuli, Goranboy, Jabrail, Jalilabad, Gazakh, Samukh, Shamkir, Terter, Tovuz and Garadag Districts, as well as in the settlement of Gyuzdyak.
