Imams of Kabardino-Balkaria dedicate their Friday sermon to fight against IS

A special appeal of theologians of Kabardino-Balkaria, calling on residents of the region not to give in to the propaganda of the "Islamic State" (IS), was read out by Imams in all republic's mosques.

According to the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Kabardino-Balkaria, on April 19, at the North-Caucasian Islamic University, the republic's Mufti Khazrataliy Dzasezhev held a sitting of the Council of Ulems (theologians).

As reported by the website of the SAM, the IS (banned in Russia) "involves some Russian citizens, including Muslim youth."

"Currently, adherents of this illegal organization, while relying on an erroneous understanding of the Holy Koran and Sunnah, are striving to create a worldwide caliphate, by using unlawful and unacceptable methods to this end. Their activities, based on demonstration of cruelty, aim at settling fear and disorientation, thereby enhancing the influence of the IS," says the appeal.

In central mosque in Nalchik, the theologians' appeal was read out by Imam Khyzir Otarov; the video of his speech is available on the YouTube.
