Trial of Valery Permyakov starts in Gyumri

In the territory of the 102nd Russian military base in Armenia first session of the court that considers the murder in Gyumri of seven members of Avetisyan family took place.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to investigators, a Russian soldier Valery Permyakov had confessed of the massacre committed at night on January 12, 2015. On November 17, it became known that the preliminary inquiry into the case was over.

The travelling court session, chaired by Judge Arutyun Movsisyan from the Shirak Regional Court, started today. The courtroom is housing relatives of the executed family, who have expressed their dissatisfaction with the fact that the trial is run at the Russian military base, and not at the Shirak Regional Court. They also express disbelief that the Avetisyan family could be executed by one person.

Journalists are watching the trial on a screen installed in a tent near the military base.

Let us remind you that on August 12 Permyakov was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of desertion, and theft and illegal possession of firearms.
