FSB treats reports of prepared terror acts in North Ossetia as false

Social networks and mobile applications disseminate false information about the preparation of terror acts in North Ossetia. Persons engaged in dissemination of the false information are put on the wanted list. This was reported by the FSB Department for North Ossetia.

Starting from November 20, residents of North Ossetia began to receive warning messages through WhatsApp messenger on their mobile phones. The messages report on preparation of terror acts in the region and on capture of two terrorists who had entered the republic. Some reports include a video of the detention of a man.

Today, the FSB Department for North Ossetia has announced that the information disseminated by unidentified persons is false. The FSB urges residents of North Ossetia not to sent further those messages under the threat of prosecution under Article 207 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (knowingly false reports about a terror act), the "TASS" reports.

According to the FSB, the video of the detention of the suspected terrorist was made two months ago and showed the event in Karachay-Cherkessia, the website of the regional newspaper "Slovo" reports with reference to the press service of the FSB Department for North Ossetia.

Earlier, similar messages have also been disseminated in South Ossetia, and the regional law enforcement bodies treated them as false, the "Sputnik" reports.
