Investigation against suspects of terror act at Dubrovka Theatre completed

Khasan Zakaev, a native of Chechnya, suspected of aiding and abetting organizers of the assault of the Dubrovka Theatre in 2002, started to read the materials of the criminal case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 17, 2014, it became known that investigators resumed the investigation into the criminal case of the terror act during the musical "Nord-Ost" in connection with the detention of 41-year-old Khasan Zakaev. He was put on the international wanted list and was detained while he was trying to enter Crimea from Ukraine with a fake passport.

Today, Vladimir Markin, Spokesman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has reported that the investigation into the criminal case against Khasan Zakaev is completed.

According to the ICRF, Khasan Zakaev is accused of involvement in a criminal grouping, preparation for a terror act, aiding and abetting in capture of hostages, attempted murder of two or more persons, illegal possession of weapons, and deliberate destruction of other people's property.

The investigators have revealed that the native of Chechnya was a member of the criminal grouping led by Shamil Basaev, and he was aiding and abetting in the preparation of the terror act and capture of hostages. In particular, according to Vladimir Markin, in 2002, Khasan Zakaev transported to Moscow weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were then used by the terrorists.

Vladimir Markin has also emphasized that the investigation into the criminal case against Khasan Zakaev was especially difficult "because of a large amount of investigative and legal proceedings," the "Interfax" reports.
