Ingushetia: Interpol detains girl suspected of terrorism

In the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, a 20-year-old girl has been detained, who was on the international wanted list on suspicion of terrorism. The detainee is a native of Ingushetia and recently returned from Austria.

The girl was detained in the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya.

"She was on the international wanted list by the Interpol, and was detained at the request of the Austrian branch thereof," the RIA "Novosti" quotes its source from local power structures.

The information on her citizenship has not yet been confirmed: according to the RIA’s source, she is a citizen of Russia; according to the "Interfax" – she is not. So far, no official comments have been made by the republic’s power structures on the fact of detention.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2014 a student from Astrakhan Saida Khalikova was detained on suspicion of financing militants. She was accused of sponsoring the "Islamic State" (IS) (declared a terrorist organization; its activities are prohibited in a number of countries, including Russia).
