Chechen girls are prosecuted for extorting money from IS recruiters

Three girls from Grozny, who, according to investigators, opened fake accounts to enter into correspondence with recruiters of the "Islamic State" (IS) and received money from them, have been put under recognizance not to leave.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to different sources, including the Federal Security Bureau (FSB) of Russia, that militants from Russia are fighting for the IS (earlier, the ISIL – the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), which is recognized as a terrorist organization. The IS shows itself as an attractive and promising project, aimed primarily at young people, experts say.

The girls were detained by the Centre to Combat Extremism (CCE), said Magomed Deniev, the head of the press service of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). According to his story, the suspects extorted about 200,000 roubles from IS recruiters. Most probably, no criminal case on a fraud will be opened, since to do so a victims' application is needed, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" writes.

According to investigators, the girls used the same scheme: they created fake accounts in social networks, launched correspondence with IS supporters and assured them that they want to go to Syria, but have no money for that. After recruiters sent money to their electronic wallets, the girls deleted their accounts. In reality, none of them had intention to go to Syria, the "Russia Today" reports.

One of the suspects named Maryan confessed of committing a fraud, but said that she did not contact the recruiter by herself, but received a message from him.

Various sources, including the Russian FSB, have confirmed that militants from Russia are fighting for the "Islamic State", says the document prepared by the "Caucasian Knot": "Caucasians in the ranks of IS (ISIL)".
