Residents of Volgograd hold picket against staff reduction in kindergartens

A picket against raising fees for kindergartens, staff reductions in them and demanding decent funding of preschool institutions was held today in Volgograd.

The action was organized by the social movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights". There were 25 picketers in total, Olga Cheburakova, the organizer, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The protesters were holding posters: "Stop experiments on children and teachers!", "Kindergarten fees shall not exceed 2000 roubles!", "The higher parental fee for kindergartens, the richer MPs!" and others.

"We, parents of Volgograd schoolchildren and preschoolers, stand against the Volgograd authorities' policy to save funds at the expense of children. We protest against increase of kindergarten fee by 35 percent, suspension of children social benefits, reduction of staff in kindergartens, and absence of decent funding of kindergartens," says the resolution of the picket.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" reported that the demand to stop staff reduction in kindergartens was put forward by activists of the movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights" on March 14 during a picket in Volgograd.
