Dagestani Prosecutor's Office demands to punish officials for poor status of school buildings

In Dagestan, school library funds are underfunded, and more than 400 educational institutions are in dangerous or dilapidated state. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan. Prosecutors demanded to punish officials from the Ministry of Education for violations.

In the course of a large-scale inspection of the execution of the laws on education in Dagestan, it has been revealed that 154 schools are in disrepair, and 266 others are dilapidated. Meanwhile, the progress of construction and capital repairs of school buildings is slow and does not meet the needs of the education system, Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan reports.

In fact, in all Dagestani schools, library fund for primary schools is funded at 100%; however, for middle and senior schools only at 50-80%.

296 educational institutions of Dagestan operate without a license. As an example, the Prosecutor's Office mentions the Kadar basic educational school in the Buynaksk District, which cannot obtain a license since its very foundation because of the fact that the school building has been built on agricultural land.
