FSB announces capture of member of Dubrovka hostage-taking

A militant-participant in the hostage-taking in the Dubrovka Theatrical Centre has been captured in the Crimea, said the Border-Guarding Service of the FSB.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 23, 2002, during the "Nord-Ost" musical performance, militants captured 916 hostages, demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities in Chechnya. During the assault, undertaken on October 26, 2002, with the aim to release the hostages, according to official figures, 40 militants were killed, 130 civilians died, and more than 700 other hostages were injured.

Employees of the FSB's Frontier Republic of Crimea detained a man who, according to law enforcement agencies directly involved in the hostage-taking.

The detention took place back in August 2014, the "Interfax" writes today with reference to the press service of the above Crimean Frontier Service.

The name of the detainee and his whereabouts after detention are not disclosed.

Let us remind you that on December 17, 2014, it became known about the resumption of the criminal investigation into the hostage-taking during the musical "Nord-Ost" in connection with the detention of a native Chechnya Khasan Zakaev. According to investigators, Zakaev was detained while trying to enter the Crimea from Ukraine under forged documents.
