In Dagestan, author of anti-New Year video charged with possession of weapons

Murad Nurmagomedov, an author of the video criticizing Muslims celebrating the New Year holiday, who was detained in Makhachkala, was charged with illegal possession of weapons. This was reported by his advocate.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murad Nurmagomedov was detained on December 31, 2014. According to law enforcers, during the search of Murad Nurmagomedov himself and the search of his house, they found ammunition.

Advocate Ziyavudin Uvaisov has announced that on January 12, he will appeal against the decision about his client's arrest for two months.

The detention of Murad Nurmagomedov has caused resonance among users of the Dagestani segment of the social network Facebook.

"This is a flagrant example when a man has been arrested for absolutely nothing, and everyone who knows Murad has no doubt about that," Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a Facebook user, has commented on the detention of Murad Nurmagomedov.

Blogger Rasul Abu Asad notes that according to the law enforcement bodies, the grenade was found "among the toys during the search of the house." "Can you imagine that a man can store a grenade among toys of his son!?" writes the blogger.
