Court finds dismissal of protester against pension reforms in Armenia illegal

In Armenia, Tigran Sargsyan, a teacher of the Zovasar Rural School, who protested against the accumulative pension system, has won a lawsuit against his principal.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that this summer in Armenia, according to the activists of the DEM.AM initiative, state institutions dismissed those who disagreed with the pension reform. In particular, the above Tigran Sargsyan, a teacher of mathematics and computer science of the secondary school in the village of Zovasar, Aragatsotn Region, was dismissed from his job, in his opinion, because he had submitted an application to his school principal, Albert Sargsyan, about his refusal from the new pension system. However, his absenteeism without valid reason was named to be the official reason for his dismissal.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the first instance court of general jurisdiction of the Aragatsotn Region that the court had ruled in favour of the rural school teacher. The court ruling says that Tigran Sargsyan shall be reinstated at work with payment of salary for the whole period of his dismissal.
