Untsukul residents complain about power agents' decision to close Gimry Tunnel

According to local residents, the situation in the Untsukul District of Dagestan is quiet; however, the closure of the Gimry Tunnel by law enforcers in the search for militants creates great inconvenience for residents of the Untsukul District.

Let us remind you that on September 18, the Gimry Tunnel connecting the village of Gimry of the Untsukul District with Buynaksk and Makhachkala was closed in the framework of counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime introduced in the Buynaksk District of Dagestan in the previous evening.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a resident of the village of Gimry that the residents of the Untsukul District are concerned about the temporary closure of the Gimry Tunnel. "We have accustomed to the presence of soldiers; however, we are obviously not happy with the fact that now we have to use the bypass road again," the villager has said.

"They (law enforcers) are looking for members of the 'Gimry' criminal grouping in the woods. I still do not know who remains there; however, they say that they detected motion in the woods. We do not mind, let them catch criminals. For us, the most important idea is to prevent their starting to burn the woods once again," the villager has expressed his opinion.

Let us remind you that after closing the tunnel, the law enforcers stated that it would be opened in five days.
