Volgograd picketers demand kindergarten places from officials

The participants of the today's picket in Volgograd have demanded from the authorities to provide all the children of the region with places in kindergartens by January 1, 2016, as well as to resume full funding of the already existing network of kindergartens in the region.

The action was organized by activists of the public movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights", Olga Cheburakova, a picketer, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Ten picketers, including children, held posters reading "They improve demography but provide no kindergarten places!", "Let's cut expenses on officials!" and "Parents are tired of repairing kindergartens for their money!" and others.

The today's picket was the fifth action held this year by the above organization.

"There are no results. Volgograd authorities ignore the protests and disregard critical issues related to kindergartens. From April 2014 we seek and demand a meeting with the Acting Governor of the Volgograd Region Andrei Bocharov. We still have neither appointment nor refusal to meet us. During the last 5 years, not a single kindergarten was built in Volgograd," said Olga Cheburakova.
