Suspected organizer of terror acts in Dagestan and Stavropol Territory detained in Sarajevo, "Kommersant" reports

In the Sarajevo Airport, the police have arrested Khabib Khabibov, included in the international wanted list, the "Kommersant" reports with reference to a source from the law enforcement bodies. The Russian investigating authorities treat him as active militant and accuse him of promoting terrorism. The charges filed against Khabib Khabibov in absentia include an organization of a terror act near the road police (known as GIBDD) building in Pyatigorsk and recruitment of fighters for their further participation in the combat actions in Syria.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 27, 2013, in Pyatigorsk, three persons were killed and three others were injured as a result of a terror act. Six suspects were detained in the case. On January 15, a special operation was held in the Dagestani village of Karlanyurt, as a result of which four suspected militants and three law enforcers were killed. According to law enforcers, the number of killed persons included, in particular, Rustam Dagirov, a local resident, and Arsen Khangereev and Marat Idris, militants from the "Khasavyurt" grouping. Investigators believe Marat Idris organized the terror act in Pyatigorsk.

According to the Dagestani law enforcers, together with hundreds of militants from the "Khasavyurt" and other groupings, Khabib Khabibov arrived in Syria, where he took part in the combat actions against the government forces.

The Court of Sarajevo has arrested Khabib Khabibov for 18 days. During this time, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation is to prepare a request to the local authorities for his extradition.
