Adygea hosts exhibition of female prisoners' portraits

On May 14, in Maikop, the National Museum of Adygea opened the exhibition "Captives of Destiny". The exhibition shows 60 female portraits created by artist Vitaly Barkin in the penal colony No. 6.

The exhibition represents the first part of the art project "Les Miserables", implemented with the support of the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) for Adygea.

The purpose of the exhibition is to draw public attention to the problem of social adaptation of women released from penitentiary institutions. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Nadezhda Sukhovaya, the head of the press service of the FSIN Department for Adygea.

"While they are here, we are engaged in these issues. However, as soon as they receive a certificate of release, they are out of doors, where no one cares of them, and, unfortunately, they return to us very soon," the FSIN official has noted.
