In Armenia, initiative "I'm against!" demands to reinstate dismissed metro workers

Activists of the civil initiative "I'm against!" have demanded to reinstate dismissed metro train drivers of the Yerevan Metro. According to the members of the initiative, the metro workers were fired for taking part in the actions against the funded pension system.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from January 1, 2014, mandatory accumulation pension system was introduced in Armenia. Citizens met the pension reform with protests.

According to the initiative, Andranik Gevorkyan, Sevak Ovannisyan and Gagik Galstyan, workers of the Yerevan Metro, were dismissed because of their participation in the protest actions. Members of the initiative "I'm against!" have described the dismissal of the metro workers as "cynicism" and called to hold a rally in support of the metro train drivers.

"On May 6, we will together support the rights of our three friends and the dignity of Armenian workers. We will call on the Yerevan Metro to apologize to our friends and in the court and to restore their violated rights," the statement emphasizes.

The protest action is to be held in front of the court of general jurisdiction of the Yerevan communities of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeitun, the "Novosti Armenia" reports.
