In Yerevan, immigrants from Syria hold march in memory of victims of war

In Yerevan, about 40 Syrian Armenians and Arabs organized a march in memory of the victims of the conflict in Syria and combat actions in the town of Kesab. The event was timed to the Independence Day of Syria, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Participants of the action held on April 16 marched from Matenadaran, the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, to the Syrian Embassy in Yerevan. They were holding flags of Armenia and Syria in their hands.

The action is directed against the policy pursued towards Syria by the Turkish authorities. This was told to journalists by Manvel Kostanyan, a member of the Council of Pupils and Students of Syria. He has also noted that the situation in Aleppo and Damascus is tense, and "according to recent information, these days, there are casualties, including Armenians."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Armenian Diaspora in Syria appeared in a difficult situation after the beginning of hostilities between the government forces and the opposition. About 600 Armenian families have been evacuated from Kesab to Latakia.

On April 17, the European Parliament adopted a resolution, which condemned the attack on the Armenian-populated Syrian town of Kesab and forced deportation of its residents.
