Ingush MIA detains local resident who tried to abduct bride

Policemen have detained a resident of the Malgobek District of Ingushetia, who abducted a girl to marry her and knocked down a policeman with his car. This was reported today by the press service of the Ingush Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

According to the source, on the eve of the incident, a woman filed a complaint to the local OVD (Interior Division) about the abduction of her daughter by unidentified persons.

"During the search operations, at the crossroad of highways Malgobek-Zyazikov-Yurt, staff members of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) tried to stop a car driven by the kidnapper. However, the latter ignored the policemen's demands to stop, knocked down one of the policemen and fled the scene," the source has said.

The policeman was not seriously injured, he got bruises and abrasions; and the man who knocked him down was detained during the chase in the village of Achaluki.

During the interrogation, the detainee said that he had abducted the young girl with the aim to marry her. "The girl was returned to her parents; and now investigative actions against the detainee are underway," the MIA source has noted.

He added that, apart from the legal responsibility for the incident, the detainee will have to pay a fine for the bride abduction, the "Interfax" reports.
