Death toll of Volgograd terror acts reaches 36

The explosion in Volgograd trolleybus killed 16 people, including the suicide bomber, not 15, as reported earlier, the spokesman of the local Ministry of Public Health said today. Thus, the total number of casualties of the explosions on December 29 and 30 is 36 people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that both terror acts in Volgograd were committed by suicide bombers; and the performer of the first one – on December 29 at the railway station – was identified as Pavel Pechonkin, a member of the "Buynaksk" grouping, who was born in the Republic of Mari El.

The count of deaths in the first terror act remains unchanged, the "Interfax" writes, citing the regional Ministry of Public Health. The explosion claimed the lives of 19 people, including the perpetrator of the attack.

Let us remind you that the announced regional mourning will last till January 3, 2014. First funerals will take place today.

Residents of the city told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about their anxiety and worry for their relatives, and about their fear to use the public transport.
