Investigators question three Circassian activists from Adygea

Today, the Investigating Department (ID) for the Krasnodar Territory of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) questioned three Circassian activists from Adygea, said one of them – Adnan Khuade, an activist of the movement "Patriots of Circassia", and Abubekir Murzakan, the chairman of the public movement "Adyge Khekuzh – Circassia".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 13 following the instruction of the above ID of the ICRF law enforcers forcibly brought to Krasnodar at least eight Circassian and Abazin activists from Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia and Adygea. Agents of the Centre to Combat Extremism (CCE) searched their houses and apartments. The activists were given statements that possibly a certain Chernyshov, a wanted member of the armed underground, could be hiding in their houses, and this was the reason of the above searches.

According to the version of Ibragim Yaganov, the chairman of the public movement "Khase", the detention of the above activists has to do with the upcoming Olympics in Sochi.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the topic of the "Circassian issue" is actively debated in the context with preparations for the Sochi Olympics. On October 16, at a meeting with a delegation of Adygs (Circassians) from abroad, Dmitry Kozak, a Russian Vice-Premier, promised to broadly present the Circassian component in the cultural program of the Olympic Games.
