Actions in commemoration of 60th anniversary of deportation take place in refugee camps

A mourning action in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the deportation of the Chechen and Ingush peoples was arranged by the Society for Russian-Chechen Friendship in the refugee camp situated in the Ingush village of Yandare on February 23. Representatives of the republican interior ministry recommended refuges in categorical terms not to hold the action in the open air. The functionaries said such an action would be broken up by police. The human rights defenders decided not to confront the authorities and held the mourning meeting indoors. Activists of the refugees' public movement from different places of compact residence took part in it. The money collected by the public activists was used to buy small food presents for orphan children living in the camp.
