Chechnya takes first place in number of antipersonnel mines

While meeting with Russian diplomats, a high-ranking UN official presented such statistics: about 500 thousand antipersonnel mines are buried and wait for their time in Chechnya. This was reported by the Noviye Izvestiya newspaper. By this index, the republic takes the first place in the list of all the "hot spots" of the planet. At the same time, according to official data, about 10 thousand people have suffered from antipersonnel mines for the last four years.
