Yerevan police releases detained activist Kiviryan
Argishti Kiviryan, an activist of the movement against increase of public transport fares, who was detained today in Yerevan, is back at large, after drawing up a protocol on non-fulfilment of a policeman's demand.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Kiviryan was detained by policemen when he tried to set up a tent in front of the city Mayoralty, where activists are holding a hunger strike demanding to dismiss the head of the transportation department and director of the "Yerevantrans", who, in their opinion, had backed up the 50-percent increase of public transport fares.
At Kiviryan's detention, he received damage of his hands and feet, said his lawyer Lusine Saakyan. She has already complained to the police about the harm caused to her client.
An administrative protocol was drawn up against Kiviryan, stating that he had violated Article 182 of the Code of Administrative Offences by not obeying to legitimate demands of a policeman, the press service of the Yerevan Police has reported.
