In Stavropol Territory, suspect of using slave labour accused of trying to bribe policeman

Investigators have combined into a single case two criminal cases against a resident of the Cossack village of Lysogorskaya of the Georgievsk District of the StavropolTerritory, suspected of using slave labour and attempting to bribe. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by officials from the Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the Stavropol Territory.

Let us remind you that on July 1, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) reported that the 43-year-old director of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise (MUE) "Lysogorskoe" forcibly held 13 persons.

Besides, according to the investigators' information, on June 19, the businessman tried to "buy out" from the district police inspector two of his "slaves", who were brought to the police station for drinking alcoholic beverages when collecting waste.

The Investigating Department decided to combine those two criminal cases into one proceeding. At present, the businessman is under arrest and the investigation into the cases has been taken over by the Prosecutor's Office of the StavropolTerritory.

The Prosecutor's Office notes that the suspect systematically beat his slaves, deprived them of food for three days, and forced them in a metal container to punish for their attempts to leave the territory.

The current whereabouts of the liberated slaves are unknown, since no relevant information has been presented by the Investigating Department, the Cossack village administration, the police, or the Prosecutor's Office.

Public organizations to rescue slaves are not engaged in solving the problem of the Lysogorskaya slaves. Oleg Melnikov, the leader of the youth movement "Alternative", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had no information about those people.
