Advocate: criminal prosecution of policemen in the case of beating builders in Sochi rejected

A Sochi investigator has refused to initiate criminal proceedings against policemen about beating builders of an Olympic facility, said the lawyer Alexander Boichenko.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on June 13, at the police station of the township of Blinovo in the Adler District of Sochi Mardiros Demerchyan, 38, and Sergey Krbaschyan, 25, were beaten, as Lyudmila Demerchyan, the wife of one of them had reported.

On June 13, Mardiros Demerchyan was taken from the police station to the hospital and said that he had been tortured. Sergey Krbaschyan also said that he was beaten at the police station. Lyudmila Demerchyan and Alexander Boichenko, Demerchyan's advocate, filed complaints to the police and investigating bodies.

On July 15, Alexander Boichenko informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the investigator Artyom Semenets had told him that he would not initiate a criminal case against the policemen on beating Demerchyan and Krbaschyan.

The lawyer said that on the will of Mardiros Demerchyan he intended to challenge the investigator's refusal to open a criminal case at the prosecutor's office and the court.
