During a meeting within the framework of MPRI South Ossetia pointed out facts of violation of the country's airspace

The present-day situation at the border between Georgia and South Ossetia, including cases of violation of South Ossetia’s airspace, was discussed at a meeting within the framework of MPRI held in Ergnety on January, 29.

The incident of violation of the South Ossetia’s airspace that came into question took place on January, 25, Head of South Ossetian delegation Hokh Gagloity told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

“That day two helicopters flew into the territory of South Ossetia in the neighbourhood of the settlement of Vakhtanga. It turned out that they were navigated by citizens of Turkey who took a self-willed decision to get off the guided path”, Gagloity explained.

South Ossetian party suggested to denote the airspace of Georgia adjoining that of South Ossetia as a zone of special emphasis.

In addition, during the meeting South Ossetian party called for the participants of MPRI to create a zone free of weapon in the territories adjoining the border of South Ossetia controlled by the observers’ Mission of European Union. Gagloity pointed out that there were Georgian military units there in defiance of the agreements “Medvedev – Sarkozy”.

Before the beginning of the meeting Head of the Georgian delegation David Sudjashvili declared that Georgia was going to express protest against the actions of Russian border guards in Qvareli Municipality. “They are laying barbed wire along the administrative border”, David Sudjashvili said to “Echo of the Caucasus”.
