Within the framework of MPRI the authorities of Georgia passed South Ossetia its citizen

On January, 29, citizen of South Ossetia Ippolit Magkoev was released by the authorities of Georgia within the framework of Mechanism for prevention and reaction to incidents (MPRI). However, according to Head of South-Ossetian delegation at a meeting of MPRI Hokh Gagloity, “one more citizen of South Ossetia, Tutaev, has not yet been released”.

Magkoev was handed over in the Georgian settlement of Ergneti located near the border.

According to Gagloity, Tutaev and Magkoev’s release was necessary because of the state of their health. Tutaev and Magkoev had to be released unconditionally. However, today only Magkoev was released, Gagloity said.

Head of South-Ossetian delegation informed that the question of a large-scale amnesty currently going on in Georgia was discussed during the meeting. “We got no answer to our question whether our citizens serving penalty in Georgian prisons were included in the amnesty”, Gagloity added.

In addition, there was a meeting of parents of missing citizens of South Ossetia with Ambassador of OSCE Andriyu Deshitse to whom a letter for Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili and Prosecutor General of Georgia with a request to look into the matter was handed.

There are no comments on the results of the meeting in Ergneti from the Georgian party.
