Punishment to six defendants on the case of blasting “Nevsky express” mitigated
Today the Supreme Court of Russia mitigated the sentence to six natives of Ingushetia, defendants on the case of blasting “Nevsky express” by changing their penalty from serving it in a strict regime colony to a general regime one. In this way, judicial division for criminal cases granted the claims of the defendants’ attorneys in part.
Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that on May, 22, 2012, Tver regional court sentenced four defendants to live imprisonment and the rest to terms from seven to eight years of custody.
“Alter the verdict of Tver regional court to Beslan, Idris, Iljas, Magomed, Tarkhan and Timur Kartoev, sentence them to serving custody terms in a general regime colony. Uphold the rest of the verdict, dismiss the motion of alteration of preventive punishment”, the judge of the Supreme Court read out the verdict.
The defendants mentioned by Tver regional court were discharged on the clause “Gangsterism” (clause 209 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Today the Supreme Court confirmed that they were not members of the gang subordinate to Said Buriatsky at the stage of preparation and execution of the act of terror and acknowledged their right of rehabilitation, ITAR-TASS reports.
