Today, Georgian railway workers continue their strike
Today, Georgian railway workers of the Khashuri administration of railways continued their strike. They were joined by about 50 walking inspectors from Zestaphoni. At present, the strike has been stopped, and the strikers have agreed about the meeting with the management of the "Georgian Railway".
On February 13, 800 railway workers of Khashuri went on strike. They demanded to increase wages and restore benefits that had been cancelled several years ago.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a source at the "Georgian Railway" that the walking inspectors also demanded to improve working conditions and increase wages. According to the strikers' story, they were threatened with dismissal.
Gocha Aleksandriya, Deputy Chairman of the United Trade Unions of Georgia, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that at present, the strike is suspended. The strikers agreed to meet the management of the "Georgian Railway" on February 15.
