In Azerbaijan, leader of "Modern Musavat" abandons idea to cut off Aylisli's ear

Khafiz Gadjiev, the leader of the "Modern Musavat" Party, has reported about his refusal of the idea to cut off an ear of Akram Aylisli, the author of the novel about Nagorno-Karabakh.

Earlier today, the pro-governmental "Modern Musavat" Party has decided to issue an award of 10,000 manats (about 12,788 US dollars) to the one who would cut off the writer's ear.

"The previous decision on awarding the person who cuts off the writer's ear has been revised by the political board of the party at the insistence of party members, as well as of diplomatic missions of foreign countries. We have no need of Aylisli's ear; he is a God-punished person without it," the "1news.az" quotes Gadjiev as saying.

Orkhan Mansurzade, the spokesman for the MIA, said that "regardless of the socio-political, religious and national origin, no one is allowed to execute gibbet law." "The released information about threats to Aylisli will be investigated, and in accordance with the results, respective legal action will be taken," he said.
