A bill draught of criminalization of genocide of the Armenians introduced to the Parliament of France
A bill draught stipulating criminal liability for denial of genocide of the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in 1915 was introduced to the Bureau of National Assembly of France.
The new bill draught was submitted to the lower chamber of the Parliament on February, 6. Deputy of the French Parliament from the ruling party “Union for National Movement” (UNM) Valerie Boyer became its originator. The new document was based on the clause “Criminalization of denial of genocide and military crimes” adopted by the European Parliament.
The amendments introduced by the Deputy stipulate criminal liability for denial of genocide of the Armenians in 1915. Persons who deny crimes against humanity are supposed to be sentenced to up to one year of custody and fined to 45 thousand euros, Panarmenian.net referring to “Nouvelles d`Armйnie” newspaper reports.
