State University of Kabardino-Balkaria admitted 90 students from Syria

90 students from Syria were admitted to the State University of Kabardino-Balkaria. 12 more persons are expected to arrive to enter the University until February, 20.

The students who come from Syria immediately start classes in an intensive regime. Learning Russian and subjects selected as specialty is included into the program of pre-university training.

“Many students’ financial condition declined because of the war in Syria but we are trying work alongside with studies”, leader of Syrian students fraternity Samir Djatkar said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent. He added that during the past two years the students had been receiving an additional scholarship for account of local benefactors, some residents brought them food.

“I will stay here. This is my homeland, after all”, Samir Djatkar declared.

“I got used to living here, I have been here for already two years. I do not know whether I will be able to go there again. I have a feeling that I have lived here all my life”, second-year student of the medical faculty of SUKB Farukh Ibrahim said.

According to Head of the Department of external relations of SUKB Anatoly Kodzokov, 102 persons from Syria all in all were admitted to the preparatory division. For the reason that the documents were submitted to the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation behind schedule, no budgetary places were allotted for compatriots. The newcomers are undergoing pre-university training for account of off-budget financing.

“We will do our best to obtain budgetary places for these students”, Kodzokov said.
