Former head of Georgian MIA's press service detained in Adzharia
Tonight, Georgian law enforcement agents detained Guram Donadze, the former head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). He is accused of abuse of power to conceal facts during the investigation into the murder of Dota Robakidze in 2004.
On November 23, 2004, 19-year-old Amiran (Dota) Robakidze was killed by patrolman Grigol Bashaleishvili. The police claimed that a submachine gun was found at the Robakidze's car; however, after the investigation, it was revealed that Grigol Bashaleishvili killed the unarmed young man by negligence.
Guram Donadze, the former head of the press service of the Georgian MIA, was detained in Sarpy in Adzharia. According to his advocate's version, Guram Donadze has returned to the country from Turkey, since he believes being not guilty, the "Georgia Online" reports.
According to the version of the Prosecutor's Office, Guram Donadze ordered to make a video record of the submachine gun planted in the car belonging to Dota Robakidze to present the action of the young man as armed resistance to the law enforcement agent, the IA "News-Georgia" reports.
