Former Defence Minister Irakli Okruashvili cleared of all charges
Irakli Okruashvili, the former Defence Minister of Georgia, has been cleared of last charge relating to professional negligence. On February 7, Judge Zviad Esebua granted the appropriate prosecutors' motion.
Let us remind you that Irakli Okruashvili was charged of creating illegal armed groupings, money laundering, professional negligence, and abuse of power.
Irakli Okruashvili was charged that during his tenure as the Defence Minister, the Ministry of Defence had purchased a large number of low-quality live rounds. A complaint was filed with regard to those rounds, and the Ministry did not pay their costs. At the trial, it was proven that low-quality rounds were purchased, when David Kezerashvili occupied the position of the Defence Minister.
Irakli Okruashvili has demanded that Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili should make public apologies for all the charges against him.
