"Novaya Sila" starts collecting signatures for withdrawal of Stavropol Territory from NCFD
The regional office of the unregistered party "Novaya Sila" (New Force) has announced a start of collecting signatures for return of the Stavropol Territory into the Southern Federal District (SFD).
Andrei Dudinov, one of the leaders of the above regional branch told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that activists bring two points to the public discussion: the return of the Stavropol Territory to the SFD (where the region was before January 2010) and introduction of temporary special migration regime for residents of the republics of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).
The collection of votes will be carried out on a specially created Internet-platform zavizu.org on the website of the party; as well as during information pickets to be held in major cities of the Stavropol Territory.
Once the number of signatories exceeds 100,000, the initiative will be transferred for consideration to the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
"These calls originate from unscrupulous politicians. Let's look at the situation realistically. We live in one huge country; it is divided, including by administrative boundaries, which are outlined also as Federal Districts. Suppose the Stavropol Territory is removed from the NCFD and returned to the SFD. The administrative boundaries remain the same; people who live in the Stavropol Territory remain the same; and our relationships will remain the same," Sergey Ushakov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Territorial Government, said in his television interview to the STRC "Stavropolye".
