Suspect of killing head of local MIA released from custody in Dagestan
The criminal case of the murder in 2009 of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan Adilgerey Magomedtagirov has not been sent to the court; therefore, the alleged killer was released from detention under home arrest, said Alexei Vasilkov, the deputy head of the Department of the Russia's General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).
The alleged killer was in custody for 18 months; however, the case is not at the court yet, Alexei Vasilkov said today. According to his story, since the maximum permitted period of detention has expired, the main suspect of killing Magomedtagirov was put under home arrest, the "Interfax" reports.
Mr Vasilkov said that investigators failed to formulate the final indictment and acquaint the parties to the trial with the materials of the criminal case. Therefore the GPO has not yet received the case for approval of the charges, which is unacceptable; and investigators would be brought to disciplinary liability, should they fail to complete the investigation in the near future, the RIA "Novosti" quotes Vasylkov as saying.
