ICRF: eight people detained in Moscow on suspicion of kidnapping Chechnya resident

According to the press service of the Investigatory Department for Moscow of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), eight suspects of kidnapping a resident of Grozny have been detained in Moscow.

On February 1, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed about detention in Moscow of four residents of Dagestan, suspected of kidnapping a 21-year-old man who had arrived by air from Grozny.

However, according to the above Department of the ICRF, on February 1, law enforcers detained eight men. One of them had an ID of the operative agent of special forces of the Russian UFSIN (Penitentiary Service Department) for Dagestan, which was found on him during search. The authenticity of the document and the attitude of the detainee to the above service is checked, said the statement posted on February 2 on the website of the Department for Moscow of the ICRF.

The statement also says that the kidnappers took away the young man's passport and cash in the amount of 16,000 roubles and 3000 euros. Then, they moved the young man to some other address and tried to extort 60 million roubles from his father for liberation, said the above statement.

The ICRF said that on 1 February the hostage was released.
