Georgian public activists protest against visit of journalists and experts from Russia
Today in Tbilisi, activists of Georgian non-governmental organizations have organized a protest against participation of Russian journalists and experts in a press conference on the situation in Georgia after the parliamentary elections.
The press conference was attended, among other persons, by the co-authors of the report Nikolai Silaev, Senior Fellow of the Centre for Caucasian Problems and Regional Security at the MGIMO University of the Russia's MFA; Andrei Sushentsov, Senior Lecturer at the Division of Applied Analysis of International Problems of the University; and Fyodor Lukyanov, President of the Council for Foreign and Defence Policies and the editor-in-chief of the magazine "Russia in Global Politics".
In front of the hotel, where the press conference was organized, a protest action was held, which brought together about ten persons – members of local NGOs. According to their version, the arrival of Russian experts and journalists is an attempt to penetrate into Georgia for the implementation of their personal aims, the "News-Georgia" reports.
The participants of the action installed posters and banners in front of the hotel; one of them carries a photo of Anna Politkovskaya, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
