Advocate Darya Trenina figures in witness bribery case

Today, after being questioned by the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) in respect of Darya Trenina, an advocate of the defendant in the murder case of the former Colonel Yuri Budanov, a criminal case was initiated against Trenina on charges of bribing the witness Alexander Evtukhov.

"I didn't pay him for false testimony; it was a compensation for his financial expense to fly to Moscow. Also, I didn't ask him to lie in court – I only asked him to repeat the evidence given at the preliminary investigation about the colour of the hair of the man, who fled from the scene of the murder," Ms Trenina has explained to reporters, adding that she did not admit her guilt.

She intends to appeal against the decision of the investigator of the Chief Investigatory Department of the ICRF for Moscow, as Valentin Varkentin, one of Trenina's advocates, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On January 21, Evtukhov was accused by the prosecutor of receiving money from defendant's advocates. The witness said in court that "the lawyer Darya Trenina transferred 100,000 roubles to his bank card for transportation to the court," and also wrote two statements to the name of the judge: on threats addressed to him by the lawyer Murad Musaev, and on Darya Trenina's proposal to give false testimony.
