Ex-Head of a department of the Ministry of Interior Affairs in Georgia released on bail
Today ex-Head of the Department of Constitutional security of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia Levan Kardava was released on bail of 30 thousand lari (about 18 thousand dollars).
Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that Kardava was among 12 ex-officials of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Georgia detained on November, 15, 2012, for wiretapping politicians. Tbilisi city court selected preventive punishment to him in form of imprisonment before trial for a term of 55 days in Gldan prison No 8.
Today at a session of the Appellate court of Tbilisi the legal judgment of imprisonment before trial was replaced by release on bail which Kardava had to pay within 15 days. The appeal was filed based on the law “On Amnesty” adopted on January, 13, according to which Kardava was uncharged on two of the three clauses of accusation and left the prison, “Novosti-Georgia” referring to the attorneys reports.
